Carlisle EPDM is time-tested in real-world conditions. Black EPDM roofing systems have been used for more than 60 years. Testing of 30-year old EPDM shows tear, tensile strength and flexibility meet or exceed ASTM standards

Thickness
Carlisle EPDM’s nominal 1.14mm of weathering protection is significantly greater than most plastic based sheets. A 20 year material warranty is available on the 1.14mm and 30 year warranty on the 1.524mm*

Numerous studies and real-world experience confirm that Carlisle EPDM has a 465% elongation ( ASTM D412 ) and weathering resistance results in superior hail damage resistance and UL 2218 Class 4 rating.

Rooftop Safety
EPDM’s dark color surface helps to melt frost, dew and ice that can create slippery conditions on reflective waterproofing. The black Carlisle EPDM reduces a roofs water load and dries more quickly that a reflective roof.
Stability
Carlisle EPDM is the most dimensionally stable membrane, remaining flexible in extremely cold conditions. Per ASTM D5279-08 EPDM is more flexible at 0 degrees F than TPO at 100 degrees F.
Condensation
The solar thermal benefits of black Carlisle EPDM also help to reduce potential condensation issues. Undetected condensation in a roofing assembly can negatively affect the performance of paper insulation facers, weakening the bond between insulation and adhesive and can have a detrimental effect on the insulations R-value, resulting in reduced thermal efficiency.
Quality Seams
Carlisle’s labor saving seaming technology and pressure sensitive flashings improve the quality and consistency of seams. Electrical or gas seaming equipment consumes natural resources and is dependent on the applicator using correct speed, temperature, and pressure to avoid false or cold welds or seams.
Fewer Seams
At Waterbrothers we stock the 3m, 6m, and 9m wide x 30m long panels, this reduces the number of seams when compared to other products on the market, which also reduces pooling on the roof deck.

EPDM is a synthetic rubber with a molecular cross-linked structure, ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) is far superior, more durable and more flexible than conventional roofing systems. EPDM is completely weather and UV-resistant.
With an extreme elasticity of more than 500%, it is the most flexible single-ply membrane for waterproofing flat roofs, buildings and facades and is credited with a service life of more than 50 years. Being extremely durable and flexible EPDM is perfect for a wide range of waterproofing applications.
